The IRC in Charlottesville is committed to bringing our beneficiaries from harm to home. As a part of that commitment, we provide them with necessities they will need to start rebuilding their lives here. To do this, the IRC relies on donated items from community partners that are passed into the hands of our beneficiaries free of charge either through our Resettlement Store or as part of an initial apartment setup.
Waynesboro Rallies to Help Afghans
With new families arriving at a break-neck pace, the IRC in Charlottesville has temporarily housed several Afghan families in hotels in Waynesboro. IRC Volunteers in Waynesboro organized to welcome these families, offering English instruction, outings exploring the community, and friendship.

We are seeking the support of faith and civic groups to co-sponsor a family; working alongside the IRC, setting up their apartment, collecting donations for the family, helping them to learn English and navigate their new community.
